The Jersey Shore is home to a number of fun-filled New Jersey Tourist Attractions that are sure to entertain the entire family. Jenkinson’s Boardwalk is one of the most famous commercialized boardwalks on The Jersey Shore and offers children’s rides, batting cages, miniature golf, and arcade games. Every week during the summer, the boardwalk hosts fireworks displays and concerts on Point Pleasant Beach. The Jenkinson’s Aquarium is also right on the boardwalk and has been educating the public on all aspects of marine life and conservation since 1991. Here you can see all different species of sharks, penguins, alligators, seals, and coral reefs. It’s a unique opportunity to get an up-close view of some amazing animals from all around the world.
Six Flags Great Adventure is one of the most popular attractions in New Jersey and is located in Jackson, only about 30 minutes from our Spring Lake, NJ Bed and Breakfast Hotel. Great Adventure is the main amusement park for one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the world and is known for its daring roller coasters. Some favorites include Nitro, Superman: Ultimate Flight, Medusa, and Kingda Ka, which as of 2005 is the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world. The train is launched by hydraulics to reach 128 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds and reaches a maximum height of 456 feet. The park is also home to Hurricane Harbor, a world-class water park. Right next to the park is Six Flags Wild Safari Animal Park, where guests drive through a 350-acre wildlife preserve home to 1,200 animals, including several endangered species. The trail is 4.5 miles long and allows the animals to walk right up to your car.
The Monmouth Park Racetrack is a thoroughbred horse racing track in Oceanport, NJ, and is the Oceanport home to the Haskell Invitational. The original track opened in 1870 on what is now the site of the Fort Monmouth parade ground but was forced to close in 1894 due to a ban on betting in New Jersey. The track reopened on June 19, 1946, after 53 years. The main track is a one-mile dirt oval and features chutes for 6 furlongs and 1-mile races. It features a clubhouse, landscaped gardens, and a picnic area. The track hosts races seasonally Wednesday through Sunday, and every Sunday is Family Fun Day, where children can enjoy pony rides, face painting, live music, and bounce houses.
